Household Objects

That collection of emojis contains the things that turn a house with four walls, into a home, with all of the things you need to function day to day. Most importantly, toilet paper. But also, beds, chairs, and laundry baskets. There are emojis depicting things you’ll find in living rooms -- like couches and lamps. Items that you might find in any room of a house.

  • 🚪 door
    The door emoji is a small brown wooden door with a golden doorknob. It is used in relations to household discussions, or when you’d like to “show someone the door.

    Take a break, sit down in the chair and rest your feet. The chair emoji is often used when talking about home furniture or sitting down. Use this emoji when you need a new chair, or when you need to take a seat.

    Going up? The elevator emoji represents the lift, you’ll need to head to a high floor. Hopefully, it’s not broken, or you’ll have to take the stairs. Use this emoji when talking about elevators, lifts, and buildings with lots of floors, such as a hotel, hospital, or office building.
  • 🧯 fire extinguisher
    Things are getting too hot in here, better pull out the fire extinguisher to put out those flames.
  • 🗑️ wastebasket
    This is a mesh wire wastebasket. You might also know it as a trash can, rubbish bin, or garbage container.
  • 🚬 cigarette
    Are you a smoker? You’ll have to light up in the designated cigarette area. These tobacco filled products are known to be addicting. The smoke of real cigarettes might mess up your lungs, but the emoji won’t lead to lung cancer.
  • 🪧 placard
    If you’re looking for a sign, this is it. The placard emoji shows a white sign with writing on it on a wooden post.

    Are you a couch potato? Or are you just trying to relax and read a book? The couch and lamp emoji is perfect to describe whatever activities would take place in your home or living room.

    The Potted Plant emoji features a green, leafy houseplant which is growing happily within a terracotta pot.

    The person in bed emoji just is not getting up, even when their alarm goes off! Hit the snooze when you see this emoji.

    Not to be confused with the emoji of a bed with a sleeping person in it, this bed emoji just shows a made bed. It can be used to show you want to go to sleep, or you need to get a bed.

    I’m either so tired and need to get some sleep, or this presentation is just really boring and is putting me to sleep. Snore fest! Good night. This face is deep in dream. REM phase. Do not disturb.
  • 💤 zzz
    Zzzz-wha? Oh, you just woke up whomever is using the zzz emoji. They were fast asleep before. Sleeping, snoring, zzzzzzz's
  • ⏰ alarm clock
    The alarm clock emoji is often dreaded, as it brings with it a connotation of ending sleep and beginning a workday. Send this to your tardy friends.

Items that you might find in a kitchen

    Have you ever wondered what this cracked or fried egg in a pan means? It’s the cooking emoji!
  • 🔪 kitchen knife
    Don’t stab anyone in the back, especially not with a kitchen knife! The kitchen knife emoji represents a chef’s knife found in the kitchen to cut and chop up meat, veggies, fruit and other ingredients to cook a meal. This emoji is also used when talking about figuratively stabbing someone in the back and losing their trust.

    The Shallow Pan of Food emoji features exactly that! This emoticon shows a black pan with handles on either side and a variety of hot food sitting in the middle.

    The Pot of Food emoji features a white, casserole-like dish, with what looks like a hearty stew made of vegetables and possibly meat.

    The canned food emoji is depicted as a red tomato can or a green can. Some variants are also orange. They can all be used to show a can of food or vegetables.

    The razor emoji depicts a double-bladed old-fashioned razor on most platforms in various colors. Some platforms show a straight shave razor with a brown or black handle.

    Lotion is a great source of moisture for dry skin. Some lotions have SPF to protect your skin from the sun. Others are scented with perfume to make you smell good. Use the lotion bottle emoji when talking about hygiene, skincare, and cleanliness.
